Overgrown Lot Cleanup in Charlotte, NC
A lot that nobody mowed for three or four summers stops being a lot. Privet, sweetgum and pine saplings, blackberry, and honeysuckle fill it in until you can't see the back fence, the trash someone dumped, or the survey pins you'll need when you sell.
We clean up overgrown residential and vacant lots across Charlotte and leave them open, visible, and easy to keep up with a mower. You get a written price before we start and the owner on site while the work gets done.
- Weeds, vines & saplings cut low
- Mulched on site, no burn pile

What Our Overgrown Lot Cleanup Process Is
An overgrown lot usually hides more than brush. These four steps make sure nothing under it surprises you, your neighbors, or your mower.
-
01
Walk the Lot
We find the property lines, fences, utility boxes, old foundations, and anything dumped in the brush before a machine moves.
-
02
Agree on the Finish
You choose what “done” looks like: fully open and mowable, or open in front with a natural buffer left at the back.
-
03
Cut & Mulch
Tracked equipment cuts saplings, vines, and weeds to a low mulch layer, with hand work along fences, sidewalks, and structures.
-
04
Final Walk
We walk it with you, note anything that needs a different trade, and explain how to keep it from growing back.
Most single-lot cleanups in Charlotte take a day or less once we unload, and we can send before-and-after photos the same afternoon if you live out of town.
Where We Serve for Overgrown Lot Cleanup
We clean up overgrown lots in every Charlotte neighborhood and in the towns below. Town pages are on the way; the main brush clearing page covers the full service.
If your parcel sits just outside these towns in Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, or Gaston County, send the address and we will confirm scheduling on the phone.
Cleaning Up an Overgrown Lot in Charlotte
Why Charlotte Lots Grow Over So Fast
The Piedmont's long growing season and red clay soil are hard on lawns but easy on volunteer trees. Sweetgum, pine, and cherry seed in from the edges, Chinese privet spreads from neighboring yards, and blackberry and greenbrier fill every sunny gap. Leave a lot alone for three growing seasons and it can go from mowable grass to brush taller than your head. Most of the lots we see are in that stage: still workable, just past the point where a homeowner with a mower can catch up.
Vacant Lots, Inherited Homes, and Rentals
Our typical customers include an heir settling a parent's estate in East Charlotte, an out-of-state owner holding a lot in a growing neighborhood, a landlord whose tenants stopped mowing, and an investor who just bought a property that sat empty. The common thread is that the owner isn't on site every week. We work from photos and a phone call when you can't be here, walk the lot ourselves, and send you before-and-after photos when the job is finished.
If You Received a City Overgrowth Notice
Charlotte's code enforcement program can cite residential and vacant lots for overgrown vegetation, and a notice usually comes with a deadline. When you call, give us the address and the date on the notice. We'll tell you plainly whether we can schedule it in time. The notice itself spells out what the city requires, so read it carefully and confirm any questions with the city. We clear the lot; we don't speak for the inspector.
What Turns Up in the Brush
Overgrowth hides things. On Charlotte lots we regularly find old fencing and wire, tires, construction scraps, buried concrete, abandoned vehicle parts, and the occasional shed that collapsed years ago. We note anything that isn't vegetation during the walk-through so it can be addressed in the scope. Cutting through wire or metal is how equipment and people get hurt, so we find it first and work around it.
The Finish: Mowable, Not Bulldozed
Overgrown lot cleanup is not land clearing. We aren't scraping the lot down to bare clay or taking out mature trees. The goal is to cut the weeds, vines, and saplings down to a low, even layer of mulch that protects the soil, keeps mud off the street, and lets you or a lawn service keep it up with a regular mower or bush hog. Healthy shade trees stay, and we can limb up their lower branches so the lot looks cared for from the street.
Keeping It From Growing Back
Some regrowth is normal. Privet and sweetgum resprout from the cut stump, and seeds in the soil will sprout the next spring. Regular mowing through the first growing season is the single best way to keep the lot open. If nobody will be on site, ask us about a periodic cutback so the lot never gets back to where it started. We don't use any chemical treatments; everything we do is mechanical.

Why Charlotte Property Owners Choose Us for Overgrown Lot Cleanup
One Person Accountable
The owner walks your lot, prices it, and runs the equipment. You're not handed off to a crew you've never met.
Straight Answers on Timing
If you're facing a deadline, we tell you up front whether we can meet it, not after the date has passed.
Photos for Remote Owners
Out of town? We send before-and-after photos so you can see the result without driving in.
Mulched, Not Burned
Brush is mulched in place. No burn piles, no smoke complaints from the neighbors, and the soil stays covered.
Firm Written Price
The price you approve is the price you pay. If we find something unexpected in the brush, we talk to you before doing extra work.
Shade Trees Kept
We clear what is choking the lot, not the healthy trees that make it worth owning.
An overgrown lot is usually a problem you inherited, not one you made. We make it simple: one walk-through, one written price, one day or two of work for most lots, and a property you can mow, show, or sell.
Charlotte Overgrown Lot Cleanup FAQs
How long does an overgrown lot cleanup take?
Most single residential or vacant lots take a day or less once we're on site. Larger or heavily wooded lots can take longer. We'll give you a time frame with the written price.
Do I need to be there while you work?
No. Many of our lot cleanup customers live out of town. We'll confirm the property lines and scope with you by phone, then send photos when the work is finished.
I got an overgrowth notice from the city. Can you meet the deadline?
Tell us the date on the notice when you call and we'll tell you right away if we can schedule it in time. Read the notice for the exact requirements, and confirm any questions with the city.
Will you take down the big trees on the lot?
Not as part of a lot cleanup. We cut weeds, vines, brush, and small saplings. If a large tree is dead, leaning, or in the way of your plans, we'll point it out so you can decide whether to add it to the scope.
What happens to all the brush?
It's mulched on site into a low layer that protects the soil and breaks down over time. There are no burn piles and in most cases nothing to haul away.
There's trash and old fencing in the brush. Can you deal with that?
We'll find it during the walk-through and note it in the scope so nothing gets mulched that shouldn't be. Tell us what you'd like done with it and we'll plan around it.
Will the lot be ready for a lawn?
It'll be open and mowable. If you want a finished lawn, a landscaper can seed or sod over the mulch layer. We don't grade or regrade the ground.
Can you keep the lot maintained after the cleanup?
Yes. For owners who won't be on site, a periodic cutback keeps the lot from growing back to where it started. Ask about it when we walk the property.
Do you spray to stop regrowth?
No. Our work is entirely mechanical. Regular mowing after the cleanup is the best way to keep resprouts down.
