Storm Debris & Downed Tree Cleanup in Charlotte, NC

A summer thunderstorm, the remnants of a tropical system, or a winter ice storm can drop more trees across a Charlotte property in one night than the owner has dealt with in years. Suddenly the driveway is blocked, a fence is flattened, and the woods behind the house are a tangle of trunks and limbs.

We clear fallen trees, broken limbs, and storm-tangled brush from yards, fence lines, driveways, and wooded acreage, and mulch the debris on site wherever that's the right finish. You get a written scope and price before work starts.

  • Downed trees cut & cleared
  • Fence lines & drives reopened
  • Written scope for your records

How It Works

What Our Storm Debris & Downed Tree Cleanup Process Is

Storm-damaged trees are under tension and unpredictable. These four steps keep the cleanup safe and keep the scope clear for you and anyone else involved.

  1. 01

    Size Up the Hazards

We check for power lines, trees under tension, hung-up limbs, and anything resting on a structure before a saw starts.

  2. 02

    Write the Scope

You get a written scope and price that spells out what's being cut, what's being mulched, and what stays.

  3. 03

    Cut, Clear & Mulch

Trunks and limbs on the ground are cut down and cleared, with brush and smaller wood mulched on site where that's the right finish.

  4. 04

    Reopen & Walk It

Drives, paths, and fence lines are reopened, and we walk the property with you to note anything that needs another trade.

If you have a blocked driveway, pasture gate, or fence line that needs attention first, we open that access right away before working through the rest of the downed wood.

Storm Cleanup Know-How

Cleaning Up After a Storm in Charlotte

What Charlotte Storms Leave Behind

Charlotte's tree canopy is one of the city's best features, and it's also why storms here do so much damage. Tall loblolly pines snap or uproot in saturated clay, water oaks drop heavy limbs, and ice storms bend and break whole stands of younger trees. Afterward, most properties have some mix of trees down across a yard or fence, limbs scattered everywhere, and a wooded back section that's now impassable.

Safety First: Power Lines and Trees Under Tension

If a tree or limb is touching a power line, stay away from it and call Duke Energy before anyone else. We don't work on or near energized lines; that belongs to the utility. Storm-downed trees also carry hidden tension. A trunk pinned under another tree, or bent over and still rooted, can spring back hard when it's cut. That's why the first step on every storm job is reading the wood before cutting it, not rushing in with a saw.

Trees on Roofs and Hung-Up Limbs

Our work is ground-based: trees and limbs that are down, or close enough to the ground to be handled safely with our equipment. A tree resting on a roof, or a large limb hung up high in another tree's crown, usually needs a climbing crew or crane first. We'll tell you honestly when that's the case. Once those pieces are on the ground, we can clear the rest.

Yards, Fence Lines, and Wooded Acreage

Storm debris doesn't stay in one place. In a neighborhood yard, the priority is getting trunks off the lawn and fence without tearing up the turf. On acreage outside the city, it's often reopening a driveway, a farm road, or a fence line so livestock stay in. In the woods, a storm can leave a jackstraw pile of blowdowns that makes the land unusable. We plan each area around what you need first and work outward from there.

What Happens to the Debris

In wooded and rural areas, mulching storm debris in place is usually the cleanest answer. It covers bare soil, avoids burn piles, and saves hauling. In a manicured yard, a thick mulch layer may not be what you want. We'll talk through the finish for each area and put it in the written scope. Charlotte's curbside yard waste pickup has size and volume limits that a downed tree typically exceeds, so confirm current rules with the city before you pile anything at the curb.

Insurance, HOAs, and Records

If you're filing a claim, photograph the damage before anything is moved. We can give you a written scope and price for your records and provide a certificate of insurance if your insurer, HOA, or property manager asks for one. What a policy covers is between you and your insurer, so check with your agent about coverage before work begins.

Why Us

Why Charlotte Property Owners Call Us After a Storm

Careful With Tension

Storm wood is read before it's cut. Nobody on our job site rushes a pinned or bent trunk.

Clear Written Scope

You know exactly what's being cleared and what isn't, in writing, before work starts.

Debris Handled On Site

Where it fits, debris is mulched in place, so there are no burn piles and fewer loads to haul.

Straight Talk

If your job needs a climber, a crane, or the utility first, we tell you so instead of guessing.

Access First

Blocked drives, gates, and farm roads are reopened first so you can get in and out while the rest gets cleared.

Standing Trees Protected

Healthy trees that rode out the storm are worked around, not knocked down to make the cleanup faster.

After a storm, there's pressure to hire the first truck that drives by. Take a breath, photograph the damage, and call someone local who'll walk the property and put the scope in writing. That's how we work on every storm cleanup in Charlotte.

Questions

Charlotte Storm Debris & Downed Tree Cleanup FAQs

A tree is touching a power line. Can you remove it?

No. Stay clear and call Duke Energy first. Work on or near energized lines belongs to the utility. Once the line is safe, we can clear the rest of the debris.

How quickly can you come out after a storm?

Call us as soon as the weather passes and we'll schedule a walk-through as quickly as we can. After a major storm, demand is high across the region, so we'll give you an honest time frame on the phone.

Can you remove a tree that fell on my house?

A tree resting on a roof usually needs a climbing crew or crane to lift it off safely. Once it's on the ground, we can cut it up and clear it along with the rest of the debris.

Will you help with my insurance claim?

We can provide a written scope and price for your records and a certificate of insurance if needed. Coverage questions are between you and your insurer, so check with your agent.

What do you do with the downed trees and limbs?

In wooded and rural areas, most debris is mulched in place. In yards, we'll agree on the finish for each area and put it in the written scope.

Can I just put the debris at the curb?

Charlotte's curbside yard waste pickup has size and volume limits that a downed tree usually exceeds. Confirm current rules with the city before piling anything at the street.

Can you reopen a blocked driveway or farm road?

Yes. Reopening access is often the first priority on rural and acreage properties, and we'll start there before moving to the rest of the cleanup.

Do you grind the stumps of trees that blew over?

Uprooted trees leave a root plate and a hole rather than a stump. We can cut the trunk free and talk through options for the root plate. Stump grinding and full stump removal are available for trees that snapped off.

Can you clear storm damage deep in the woods?

Yes. Blowdowns in wooded acreage are a good fit for our tracked equipment. We'll prioritize trails, fence lines, and access first, then the rest as needed.
